Sleep Apnea

Polygraphy at home

Medical prescription compulsory

Where?

Diagnostic self-testing performed at home during a full night’s sleep.

How?

A portable device will allow recording of the following physiological data:

  • Thoracic effort and (or) abdominal

  • Heart rate

  • Body position

  • Nasal flow

  • Snoring

  • The procedure to follow to perform the test will be explained to you at a meeting with one of our respiratory therapist.

When is this test indicated?

To confirm the presence of obstructive sleep apnea: this type of test, limited only to cardiorespiratory signs, is initially adequate and technically easier to perform.

If the result is positive, it will be necessary to undergo another test to identify the necessary pressure level required for CPAP therapy to control obstructive sleep apnea.

Contra-indications

  • The test can only be used to evaluate obstructive sleep apnea.
  • The test at home should not be used by a confused patient, incapable of handling the equipment or if   his/her health condition is unstable.
