Chronic insomnia

Chronic insomnia (insomnia that lasts for more than three months) is a persistent inability to obtain adequate sleep which has an impact on daytime functioning in the form of intense fatigue or a decline in performance.

It is characterized by a hyper state of arousal over 24 hours. This arousal can present itself in various forms:

  • Anxiety
  • Rumination
  • Vivid emotions
  • Etc.

This state can interfere with daily activities and prevent the arrival of, or the continuity of, sleep.
