Chronic insomnia (insomnia that lasts for more than three months) is a persistent inability to obtain adequate sleep which has an impact on daytime functioning in the form of intense fatigue or a decline in performance.
It is characterized by a hyper state of arousal over 24 hours. This arousal can present itself in various forms:
- Vivid emotions
This state can interfere with daily activities and prevent the arrival of, or the continuity of, sleep.
